When I got the iPhone 7 I expected it to remain fluid and responsive for a couple of years, but alas I understand that developers create bigger apps and processes and things simply require more processing power today. (FYI I replaced the battery on the 7 and it still felt laggy and not completely fluid. Perhaps an even more serious inconvenience is the pricing structure, which very slightly undercuts the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus that you can still buy from Apple's main e-store.
